Dedicated Funeral Celebrants

"When two hearts are better than one."

Covid-19 Update

As Funeral Celebrants, Craig and Kate are committed to helping families farewell their loved ones with dignity and respect. We are relieved for families that this week the Queensland Government have eased regulations. The current guidelines now allow 100 people to attend services either indoors or outdoors (excluding celebrants/clergy and funeral home staff).  Existing guidelines still apply however which require funeral homes or venues to provide a minimum space of 4sqm per person and to ensure a 1.5m social distance.

The health and safety of our families and our staff is of utmost importance to Armon & Smith Funeral Celebrants and the Funeral Directors we work with.  We are committed to helping families in any way that we can, whilst working within current guidelines.

We would like to encourage families to video or live stream the service.  We offer videography services as do many of the Funeral Homes we work with.  It is a wonderful way to connect those who are unable to attend the service.

Organising a funeral when you have just lost your loved one is incredibly difficult.  During this time we will support you in any way that we can as your Funeral and Memorial Celebrants.  We will help you to plan a funeral that celebrates and remembers the life of your lost loved one, weaving together your memories of that person to create a unique and loving ceremony.

We will work closely with you and your chosen funeral director.  We can suggest readings, music and other resources but most importantly together we will tailor this day to your needs. As your funeral celebrant we will come to you in the comfort of your own home and together we will create a unique ceremony that most befits your loved one in a dignified and respectful manner.

When you lose a loved one it can be a very confusing time, we have a wealth of information and resources to help you through this difficult time.   Suggestions for readings and music can be found on our Resources Page.

We can also Film the Funeral of your loved one, so you can keep as a memento or share with other family members who may be unable to attend.  We can produce DVD photographic slide shows, design and print your Service cards.

If you need any help or advice, please don't hesitate to call us on 0447 463 415

We get asked a lot “why would you want to do a job like this?”
Our honest reply is, “We find it a huge privilege to help people through their time of grief.”  Some days are hard, but we wouldn't change what we do for the world.

About Us

We believe that ‘Two hearts are better than one’ and this is why we like to work together with families, in their time of loss. Although we are available separately we feel we bring something truly unique by working together.

I have been a celebrant for over twelve years.  Originally from the UK, I first settled in New Zealand where I worked as both a wedding and funeral celebrant. Over the years however, I have felt the pull of just doing funeral and memorial services and working with families.

It wasn’t until I moved to the Gold Coast and met my husband Craig that I decided to finally make the move to work in this area full time and leave the wedding industry behind me.

Being a funeral celebrant is not just a job to me.  Every family I meet and work with have an incredibly special place in my heart, and every family has different needs and requirements from me.  It is a huge privilege to be trusted by families at such a vulnerable and difficult time as losing a loved one and it is a role I take very seriously.  I strive to do my very best with every family I work with.

It is my sincere hope that Craig and I bring compassion and love to our roles as Celebrants. My hubby is a joy to work with and I know that our individual talents and experience complement each other perfectly and bring something new our work as Celebrants.

I am a member of Funeral Celebrants Association Australia as well as other Celebrant associations.

Born in Melbourne, I moved to the Gold Coast twelve years ago.  My background is as a writer, actor, graphic designer and videographer with over 25 years in the industry.  I hadn’t really ever considered becoming a Celebrant until I met my wife Kate.

My career as a Funeral Celebrant started with doing readings and helping to write ceremonies and poetry. But, every time I attended a funeral or memorial with Kate I felt like I wanted to be up there helping and it wasn’t long before I too became a full time Funeral Celebrant.

Now, a member of the Funeral Celebrants of Australia, I take a huge amount of pride in my work and although challenging there is not a day that goes by that I regret my decision to embark upon this journey with my wife Kate.

I really enjoy working with Kate and we find working as a pair brings something completely new to our industry and something that no one else does.  You know the expression ‘Two heads are better than one’ well this is absolutely true.  We find our own individual experience and knowledge when joined together really brings a uniqueness that you will not find anywhere else. We are passionate about what we do and we hope that shines through in our work together.

We also offer videography and graphic design to our clients.  In the hope that as celebrants we bring sensitivity and empathy to these services with our unique knowledge of the industry. You can find a list of these services here.
